If this Congress is truly interested in healing our markets and saving the economy, there is one bailout they should consider implementing immediately that would be of almost instant benefit to all Americans. Scale back on ALL federal personal and corporate taxes. Roll back the payroll taxes especially, because almost every working American would begin to feel that difference in approximately 2 weeks.

That level of capital injected into the system will set off a wave of spending and investment that would dwarf even the most successful periods of growth seen in the past.

Of course, curtailing the number of dollars flowing into Washington’s coffers would require our representatives to cut back on a few programs that fall outside of the constitutionally vested responsibilities for which they are charged.

That means that THEY would need to sacrifice some of their fiefdoms of regulation and legislation, for the larger goal of rescuing a free America from economic and social ruin. Unfortunately, they derive their power from the regulatory mechanisms under their purview and thus have no intention of ever sacrificing a single ounce of power to save America.

Instead our representatives demand that we pay ever higher taxes so that they can use the money to buy whole industries, and pocket the profit (if any) for the benefit of what they regard as their own personal treasury.

Do they plan to send potential profits back to the taxpayers? Nope. They plan to use the money to fund an ever growing central government that will dwarf the size of the current federal behemoth, and thus to grow their own influence.

In short, our elected representatives are appropriating our resources to finance their past and future socialist progressive programs from which they derive their power.

Victory in Iraq!

Iraqi students wait in the doorway of their classroom for school supplies to be handed out during visit a school in Jurf Assakkar, Iraq, on Nov. 11. (James Wagner- DVIDS)

Thanks to the Leftists at Think Progress for pointing this out.
White House press secretary Dana Perino today told the gaggle in DC that the conditions are such now that we are able to celebrate the victory that we’ve had so far.
Of course, Perino also added that this would not have been possible if we would have followed the Democrats and cut and run from Iraq:

From the White House:

QUESTION: Yes, sorry, Dana, back to the Iraq agreement again that the Hill is being briefed on. Can you remind us again why this agreement is not the timetable that the President fought so hard against, and also how this does not attempt to tie President-elect Obama’s hands in any way?

MS. PERINO: You remember back in the debate when we were talking about arbitrary dates for withdrawal, that was when there were some members of Congress just suggesting that we get our troops out of Iraq, win or lose, without any sort of planning or thinking about the conditions on the ground. What we’ve seen since then is that as a result of the surge, we’ve been able to have tremendous successes on the security front, both because of the bravery of our soldiers and the work that they’ve done, and also the provincial reconstruction teams that are peopled by people from the State Department and USDA and other places to try to help on the political and diplomatic side of the equation, as well.

This is a mutually agreed to agreement. And that is one of the things that is different about an arbitrary date for withdrawal, when you want — when you say you’re going to leave, win or lose. We believe that the conditions are such now that we are able to celebrate the victory that we’ve had so far, and establish both a strategic framework agreement, which is a much broader document and talks about all sorts of cooperation that we’ll have with Iraq from here on out — from trade and health care and exchanges on science, and a real strong bilateral agreement that you would hope we would have with any of our allies.

These documents usually take years to negotiate. We’ve been able to compress that and do it within the year so that we can look at the conditions on the ground, work with the joint command and with the Iraqis at the plans that they have. And some of the dates that are identified in the document follow the joint command plan. So we are able to consider now having a date that we could have our troops come home. And the details of all of this will be finalized hopefully soon, and then hopefully you’ll hear from the President, as well.

Also today, Geoff Morrell, the Pentagon press secretary said the security situation and Iraqi security forces had improved so dramatically:

“That we are confident that, if things continue to trend as they have been, our services will not be needed in Iraq, come 2012.”

Don’t forget– Saturday, November 22nd is “VICTORY IN IRAQ DAY!”

UPDATE: Jules Crittenden has indicator #52 that the war is over.

Here is the full 10 minute clip of the How Obama Got Elected video making the rounds. The outstanding ignorance of these Obama voters will make you wince.

Morons brought to you by NPR, PBS, and CNN.

MSM is not solely to blame for this section of the electorates ignorance. I am sure that public education played a staring role as well, not to mention willful self inflicted blindness.

President-elect Barack Obama said in a television interview Sunday that one of the things he dreads most in taking over the White House is the “loss of anonymity,” and one of his biggest worries is ensuring his daughters can grow up in a normal way.

…Obama, in a wide-ranging interview, said his new job was a rude awakening of sorts.

Green on every level. I can’t help but think that a politician with a little more experience as a national representative would not be feeling rudely awakened by the reality of his/her new life.

America has just elected possibly the most inexperienced president in our history, at potentially the most dangerous time in our history. Funny how things work out, huh?

Gateway Pundit has the following quote from the President-Elect that betrays a tremendous hypocrisy on the left when it comes to preaching morality.

US President-elect Barack Obama has promised to rebuild his country’s “moral stature in the world”.

It’s interesting that the Democrat party, which places so much emphasis on the importance and necessity of rejecting “moral authority” when it comes to things like abortion, stem cell research, and certain kinds of marriage, would so frequently obsess over America’s global “moral stature”. It is a contradiction to be sure, and one that discredits their argument when it comes to rejecting moral judgments here at home.

BREAKING: BARACK OBAMA PLANS ISRAELI WITHDRAWAL TO 1967 BORDERS

Jerusalem- The Wailing Wall
June 7, 1967

(Azure)

Sometime around 10:15 on the morning of June 7, 1967…
The first reservist paratroopers of Brigade 55 broke through the Lion’s Gate leading into the Old City of Jerusalem and reached the narrow enclave of the Western Wall. Having just fought a fierce two-day battle in the streets of east Jerusalem, they grieved for lost friends, and grieved as well for their own lost innocence in what for many was their first experience of combat. They leaned against the Wall, some in exhaustion, some in prayer. Several wept, instinctively connecting to the Wall’s tradition of mourning the destruction of the Temple and the loss of Jewish sovereignty—precisely at the moment when Jewish sovereignty over Jerusalem had been restored.

Several hours later, Yitzhak Yifat, a twenty-four-year-old reservist about to begin medical school, reached the Wall. As part of the brigade’s 66th Battalion, he and his friends had fought in the Six Day War’s toughest battle: Intimate combat against elite Jordanian Legionnaires in the trenches of Ammunition Hill, on the road to Mount Scopus.

But, this will all change when Barack Obama becomes president.
Jerusalem will be split.

Barack Obama will give East Jerusalem away in exchange for “peace.”
The Times Online reported, via LGF:

Barack Obama is to pursue an ambitious peace plan in the Middle East involving the recognition of Israel by the Arab world in exchange for its withdrawal to pre-1967 borders, according to sources close to America’s president-elect.

Obama intends to throw his support behind a 2002 Saudi peace initiative endorsed by the Arab League and backed by Tzipi Livni, the Israeli foreign minister and leader of the ruling Kadima party.

The proposal gives Israel an effective veto on the return of Arab refugees expelled in 1948 while requiring it to restore the Golan Heights to Syria and allow the Palestinians to establish a state capital in east Jerusalem.

On a visit to the Middle East last July, the president-elect said privately it would be “crazy” for Israel to refuse a deal that could “give them peace with the Muslim world”, according to a senior Obama adviser.

A while back Benjamin Netanyahu talked about how well these unilateral withdrawals have worked for Israel in the past:

“The unilateral withdrawal from Lebanon created an Iranian outpost - from which Israel is being attacked - in the North, and the unilateral pullout from Gaza created a second Iranian base in Gaza, ‘Hamastan,’” Netanyahu said. “And now the government is planning a third withdrawal - from Judea and Samaria - that will lead to a third Iranian outpost.”

But, this time it will bring peace.

Barack Obama won 77% of the Jewish vote this year.

Who

This
Coming?

Is Jerusalem really Barack’s to give? Or the United States for that matter? If Israel wants to carve herself up in the hope for peace, it is up to her citizens to decide. The big question, and problem, is Iran. Let’s suppose the Saudi’s really are prepared to make peace with the Jews. How in the world do they plan to deliver Iran to the agreement in any honest and meaningful way? Is Saudi Arabia going to make a security guarantee? That would be a laugh.

On the other hand, if this is the beginning of a new alliance between the Arabs and the Jews to destroy the Iranian Islamic revolution, that might be another story. But again, that’s a laugh!

US Climate Ocotber 2007-November 2008

So what is a global warming religionist to do?
…Report bogus numbers, of course.

Nasa’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), run by Al Gore’s ally Dr. James Hansen was caught posting bogus data on global warming– again!
The Telegraph reported:

On Monday, Nasa’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which is run by Al Gore’s chief scientific ally, Dr James Hansen, and is one of four bodies responsible for monitoring global temperatures, announced that last month was the hottest October on record.

This was startling. Across the world there were reports of unseasonal snow and plummeting temperatures last month, from the American Great Plains to China, and from the Alps to New Zealand. China’s official news agency reported that Tibet had suffered its “worst snowstorm ever”. In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years.

So what explained the anomaly? GISS’s computerised temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal. But when expert readers of the two leading warming-sceptic blogs, Watts Up With That and Climate Audit, began detailed analysis of the GISS data they made an astonishing discovery. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running.

The error was so glaring that when it was reported on the two blogs - run by the US meteorologist Anthony Watts and Steve McIntyre, the Canadian computer analyst who won fame for his expert debunking of the notorious “hockey stick” graph - GISS began hastily revising its figures. This only made the confusion worse because, to compensate for the lowered temperatures in Russia, GISS claimed to have discovered a new “hotspot” in the Arctic - in a month when satellite images were showing Arctic sea-ice recovering so fast from its summer melt that three weeks ago it was 30 per cent more extensive than at the same time last year.

A GISS spokesman lamely explained that the reason for the error in the Russian figures was that they were obtained from another body, and that GISS did not have resources to exercise proper quality control over the data it was supplied with. This is an astonishing admission: the figures published by Dr Hansen’s institute are not only one of the four data sets that the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) relies on to promote its case for global warming, but they are the most widely quoted, since they consistently show higher temperatures than the others.

If there is one scientist more responsible than any other for the alarm over global warming it is Dr Hansen, who set the whole scare in train back in 1988 with his testimony to a US Senate committee chaired by Al Gore. Again and again, Dr Hansen has been to the fore in making extreme claims over the dangers of climate change. (He was recently in the news here for supporting the Greenpeace activists acquitted of criminally damaging a coal-fired power station in Kent, on the grounds that the harm done to the planet by a new power station would far outweigh any damage they had done themselves.)

Yet last week’s latest episode is far from the first time Dr Hansen’s methodology has been called in question. In 2007 he was forced by Mr Watts and Mr McIntyre to revise his published figures for US surface temperatures, to show that the hottest decade of the 20th century was not the 1990s, as he had claimed, but the 1930s.

Hat Tip Lenny and Diane

Now that Barack is the President-Elect, domestic terrorist William Ayers is stepping into the spotlight. Gateway Pundit has the video.

There are two very notable things Ayers says in this interview, one of which perfectly encapsulates the atrocious double standard that the Left grants itself. At 5:40 in the clip, the interviewer poses the following comparison.

Interviewer (Chris Cuomo): The analogy is that if John McCain had an association, if somebody had a coffee for him in his house to launch his political career, who was blowing up abortion clinics but never hurt anyone, you don’t think that would be relevant?

What follows is moral equivalency that has to be seen to be believed. He essentially says, “our violence was justified.”

While he justifies his terrorism as acceptable because the US government was “murdering 1000’s of people a day” in Vietnam, he doesn’t have much to say about the death rate after the American Left tucked tail and ran. I’m pretty sure that it went up a little.

I’m no fan of the Vietnam war (or any other for that matter), but he is being dishonest in his justification by leaving it completely out of context. My guess is that he sleeps at night either by having no conscience to speak of, or by telling himself that the US was to blame for the genocide that followed, not the Socialists we were fighting there . Perhaps a combination of the two?

The second notable and far more alarming comment comes at 6:12, when Bill “Bomber” Ayers reiterates that his movement didn’t do enough when they were manufacturing and detonating explosives in American cities back in the day, and that not enough has been done to stop today’s war against the Jihad Crusaders.

I think that can logically be interpreted as a call to violence. If Bomber doesn’t think he did enough when he was blowing stuff up, it leaves a pit in my stomach to hear him say he doesn’t think enough has been done to stop the war we are in today. If the anti-American Left begins detonating bombs again, this man should share the blame.

This Wall Street Journal article about rising interest rates being paid to depositors as banks compete for cash is evidence of the free market attempting to correct itself in the wake of Congressional manipulation of the mortgage market.

Banks Wage Rate War for Deposits

Consumers Benefit as Institutions Move to Shore Up Funds, but Profit Margins Suffer.

[LINK]

The federal government and especially the Socialist-Progressive-Democrats will not tolerate these free market forces playing out. If banks have to pay more for the cash being deposited by the commoners (that’s us), they will in turn need to raise the rates they charge for lending cash.

That makes homes which people can’t afford even more unaffordable, and we all know that the federal government is in business to make sure that there are cheap loans available to people who can’t afford them.

I predict that the Socialist federal government will inject yet another trillion dollars (freshly printed) into the mortgage market. Then banks will not be subject to the rules of free markets, and they won’t have to compete for your deposits. Too bad that the nearly worthless cash will drive up inflation and thus home prices.

The Socialists in our government never learn.

Gorbachev channels Founding Bloggers by claiming that America and the West are in need of our own Perestroika, and that Obama is the man for the job.

FORMER Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has welcomed Barack Obama’s victory, saying he would bring “perestroika” to the United States, it was reported today.

“I am very happy. Two or three years ago I said America needed perestroika, and this was greeted with cheers in the US,” Mr Gorbachev was quoted by ITAR-TASS news agency as saying, using the term for his 1980s liberal reforms that helped end the Cold War. [LINK]

Founding Bloggers thinks our constitution is just fine the way it is, but we saw this coming.

Incidentally, if you search Google News for this story, you will find that not one major outlet carried it. Is it bogus or is our media blacking it, out or ignoring it for some reason?

Also interesting is this related item. In October, the Chicago Tribune reported on a conference Gorbachev was holding under the banner of his think tank “World Political Forum”. Reportedly Gorby said the following:

The idea behind the ‘Washington consensus,’ that the government has no place in the state, was predominant. They got rid of the state—now the state is needed again. It is not clear how it will bottom out or how it will end, but my instinct tells me that the models of hyperconsumption were wrong. The question of transition to a new model of development is the No. 1 problem.”

One delegate said: “The world as we knew it is gone. We are approaching the tipping point toward change—there is less time than we thought.” Another thought the world resembled “collective madness.”

Strangely enough, St. Servolo Island, where the conference was held, today is an exquisite pink conference center filled with beautiful sculptures and facing Venice across a small lagoon. But it was once a psychiatric hospital: an appropriate place for considering such dire and dour predictions?
