Geraldine Ferraro Likes The Sarah Palin Pick (Video)

August 29, 2008

Former Democratic VP Candidate Geraldine Ferraro, who was slammed this year by the Obama Campain as a “racist”, likes the Sarah Palin pick for Republican VP Candidate.
Ferraro was the first and only woman ever nominated by either party as their VP pick.
That was 24 years ago.
Now she has company.

Ferraro says this should help McCain capture the disenfranchised Hillary voters:

The Corner has more on Geraldine Ferraro’s reaction:

GERALDINE FERRARO: Itís going to be a very interesting campaign. I must say that several months ago I said that it would be great if there was a woman on the ticket, that I felt that John McCain would have to pick someone, especially if Hillary was the nominee, but without Hillary being the nominee itís really quite equally as important, because people are looking for a historic campaign, and I think this might do it. There are a lot of women who are disaffected by how Hillary was treated by the media, by how she was treated by the Obama campaign, by how she was treated by the Democratic National Committee, Howard Dean not speaking up when sexism raised its ugly head in the media. (Inaudible)

Hah. Very cool. Most of the folks think on the left, however, think it was cynical, or stupid, or that Palin is “Dan Quayle with boobs” or worse. I’ve seen much worse.

    The liberals are so classy.

But Ferraro’s gone up a notch in my book.

The Democrats, more than any other political movement, seem to have an uncanny penchant for alienating their own base. First, Ferarro is decried as a racist, now Carter is laying the blame of Hillary’s defeat on Bill’s doorstep. There is nothing more impressive to me than an intellectually honest politician or pundit. My esteem for Geraldine Ferarro has also gone up a notch – or three. Palin’s nod to Ferraro and Rodham Clinton was not only classy, but so clever, as was McCain’s congratulatory message to Obama during the latter’s speech last night. At the time it was touching in its grace and class, and now, as we see the Obama attention swept away the following morning, so calculating and brilliantly shrewd. John McCain would not have been my pick to lead the ticket. I was desperately wanting Romney as VP, to be in position for 2012… But I find myself enthralled and energized for Palin, who before this morning, I had never heard speak before. Students of political science are going to be studying McCain’s master class in politics for generations to come.
