Governor Sarah Palin Responds to Critics on Experience (Video)
August 29, 2008 | 18 Comments
Governor Sarah Palin responded to media and liberal critics today who attacked the 44 year old on lack of international experience.
Here is the Governor today responding to critics on her experience:
As Governor of Alaska Palin has been to Iraq as many times as Senator Barack Obama.
She also knows the importance of completing military missions and not leaving a battlefront to al-Qaeda or Iran…
Unlike Barack Obama or Joe Biden who both voted for defeat.
Palin also has more executive experience than both Biden and Obama.
Palin has 80% approval rating in Alaska– the highest in the nation.

Palin said she has 13 years of elected experience? I thought it was 2 as governor and that’s it.
This should be good.
She was the mayor of a town in AK for like 9 years before running for the governor.
….media and liberal critics today…
But you repeat yourself.
it’;s not the timne you spend at a job, it’s what you do with it, Obama spent 10 years in the Illinois state legislature…and another 2 plus in the senate…what has he accomplished ? I’d wager that Governor palin has done more to make a real difference in Alaska in her time in office than Obama ever has in Illinois, or the senate for that matter.
Specifically, she served two terms (4 years) on the city council in Wasilla, Alaska, then two terms (6 years) as its mayor. She lost the GOP nom for lieutenant-governor, but upset the sitting governor in the 2006 primary, then beat the Democrat, who was a two-term former governor.

well according to wikipedia (yeah, i know):
[Palin was elected governor in 2006 after defeating incumbent governor Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary and former Democratic governor Tony Knowles in the general election. She was the youngest person, and the first woman, to be elected governor of Alaska. Before becoming governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska, City Council from 1992 to 1996, and was elected and re-elected mayor of Wasilla for two three-year terms in 1996 and 1999.]

13 years of elected office.
She has accomplished more during her tenure in AK than Obama has as a get-along-go-along Southside hack.
The whole experience thing, “It’s a trap!”.
I imagine Team Maverick might have, maybe, anticipated this line of attack and welcome the comparison of her ethics to Rezko, her fight with Ted Stevens vs. Obama obeying Emil Jones, etc.
The more I read about her the less I wish it was Romney. Tactical, sexy and a direct shot across the bow of the Obama campaign. Great stuff in the works.
I did a little research to compare Palin’s record with Obama’s. Palin’s experience is comparable, but her accomplishments are much more impressive.
From 1992-1996 when Palin served on the City Council of Wasilla, Obama was teaching part time at the University of Chicago Law School and working in private practice part time.
In 1996 when Obama was elected to the Illinois State Senate, Palin was elected Mayor of Wasilla, AK.. Obama worked for legislation that would provide tax credits and subsidies to private devilopers of affordable housing. Tony Rezko received over $87 million in government funds to renovate and maintain affordable housing units, many of them in Obama’s disctrict. Many of these units lacked heat, had leaking roofs and were infested by rodents. Palin ran her small but growing city with a budget just under six million dollars and about 50 employees, and was reelected in 1999.
In 2003, Palin was appointed to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. When she uncovered corruption in the organization, and was unable to get Governor Murkowski to take action, she resigned in protest and filed charges again the offenders, taking on entrenched corruption in Alaskan politics, This fight led her to run against Gov. Murkowski in the primary, and then go on to become Alaska’s first female governor in 2006.
In 2004, Obama was elected to the US Senate. The developers who had received government funding as a result of legislation sponsored by Obama served on his campaign finance committee. Many of the buildings they had purchased with government funding were seized for code violations, or foreclosed, and the low-income residents were forced to find housing elsewhere. In 2008, Governor Palin worked with the legislature to provide Alaskans a $1200 rebate from state revenues, and successfully arranged for the development of the Transcanada Pipeline to transport natural gas from Alaska to the lower 48 states.
Do the Democrats really want to talk about this?
Both Palin and Obama have meager levels of experience although I would rate the Governors a little stronger but HE is running for President and She is running for Vice President. She is a mover and shaker who has accomplished far more than he has. Unlike Hillary , Sarah Palin is a Self Made woman.
I recall at the time, bumping off Murkowski was a big deal. The ladies learn more in beauty pageants that just how to line the eyes.
A slight quibble on your post. You left out a word. Governor Palin has more executive experience that both Biden and Obama combined. :-)
No foreign policy experience? Which state borders Russia?
Interestingly, all four candidates are from border states: McCain’s home state borders Mexico, Obama’s shares a border with Canada, and Biden’s Delaware is next to New Jersey.
[...] as governor of Alaska Sarah Palin has actually been to Iraq as many times as Senator Barack Obama has? I’d say that makes Barack Obama look pretty pathetic as far as foreign policy experience [...]
I think John McCain made a very prudent choice in selecting Governor Sarah Palin as his Vice President. I feel that Governor Palin has a wide and varied experience nationally and internationally and she would be an excellent VP. Again, I respect John McCain for making this choice as I do feel it is great for America. Of couirse, I being 78, am sick of this age controversy all the time in regards to McCain, as I am still going strong and expect to for years to come God Willing. God bless John McCain and Sarah Palin and I know he is guiding them all the time and will continue to do so.
BREAK THE GLASS CEILING !!!
WOW … What a great pick!!! America should elect
McCain & Palin for the Whitehouse in November,
for a return to wholesome American values.
An experienced Governor for V.P. vs. a
community organizer for President … I pick Palin.
No Wright, no Farrakahn, no Ayers, no Rezko,
no mean Michelle, NOBAMA
The celebrated con artist Obama claims to be what Sarah Palin actually is. No wonder he’s freaking. I am 56. Never voted for any Republican. Only time I sent money to a pol was $20 to Rep. Ron Dellums, D-Berkely in ‘84. Correct, I’m a former lefty, useful idiot, etc. By putting a genuine agent of the kind of change we really need on the ticket, my respect for McCain has skyrocketed. I intend to donate a hundred bucks. That’s a lot for a cheapskate like me. Go Sarah, kick ass!
I wonder if Ms. Palin’s comments were at Saks or Neiman’s! At least she could have shopped at Sears, JC Pennys or Black and White and been like most of us! I do have a few pieces from Saks and yes, they will be in my closet forever – so, if she is donating them to charity after the campaign – what does she intend to wear in Washington? just wondering?
