To respond to Eckrich’es rhetorical question; yes, Code Pink is angry. The people who have joined this little and loud congregation are those that have had their family and friends’ family taken or injured because of war. This war being no different, and I think if most of us are honest will conclude THIS war being slightly more suspect on an ideological level than other wars fought in the last 75 years by the US (and it’s Coalition of Willing Partners.)
A word to the wise, if you’re attending a national convention that is susceptible to these types of actions be sure you pick up your pass, it’s sort of like a concert ticket (x 1,000,0000…arbitrary number, but probably just about right.)
Adam- Your point of view does not have a monopoly on honesty. It is very fair and honest to come to the conclusion that Saddam’s Iraq was a prolific supporter of Sunni Jihadis. Hell, he held public check writing ceremonies for the family of islamic nail bombers. After 9/11, some of us honestly see that as a threat to the US. If you cannot connect those dots….then I honestly think you should reexamine the facts.
And I know that there are others that share similar behaviors that Saddam did. I hope we go after them too, and destroy them with prejudice. Even if they did not directly plan 9/11.
Remember WWII? We killed a lot of people that didn’t plan Pearl Harbor. Was that a war crime? Or suspect in motive?
Also, I don’t think that code pink hides the fact that they were founded by Marxists.
