Dear Pakistan (And VP Biden), How Are Those Negotiations With Moderate Taliban Going?

March 31, 2009

Will any of the geniuses who believe we can negotiate with “moderate” elements of the Taliban take any lesson from Pakistan’s efforts to run that script?

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. said Tuesday that 70 percent of the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan are essentially mercenaries who possibly could be negotiated with instead of fought, and said the United States likely will try this approach. [LINK]

Let’s recap…

The Pakistani Talibani who just attacked the police academy in Lahore, are now promising a devastating attack on Washington, DC.

Gateway Pundit adds this context:

The weekend attack came just one month after a Taliban peace deal was reached in Pakistan. Days after the peace deal was announced between the Taliban and the Pakistani government, the Taliban appointed Mullah Omar as their leader. The Pakistani Government also paid the Taliban $6 million bucks for killing its members who were fighting against the government.

Gee. It’s a good thing we’re not at war anymore or this news might be serious.

So we ask again; Dear Pakistan and VP Biden, How are those negotiations with moderate Taliban going? Will you own responsibility for the result if these “negotiations” fail?

Sadly, we all will.
