Of course by take the fall, we mean a stern reprimanding by the Democrat media organ for a news cycle or two, and then back to business as usual.
Geithner: Treasury pushed for bonus loophole
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told CNN Thursday his department asked Sen. Chris Dodd to include a loophole in the stimulus bill allowing bonuses to be paid.
(CNN) — Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told CNN Thursday his department asked Sen. Chris Dodd to include a loophole in the stimulus bill that allowed bailed-out insurance giant American International Group to keep its bonuses.
WATCH THE VIDEO. It is hard not to be reminded of Bill Clinton while watching Geithner speak. You really have to parse his statements to find the truth.
Michelle Malkin is running a C-Span clip that proves congress and treasury were discussing these bonuses as early as March 3rd. But in the CNN clip linked above, Geithner says he wasn’t fully briefed by his staff until the 10th. Expect Geithner to eventually cop to knowing about the bonuses before the 10th, but not the full specifics that caused the outrage. He was honestly not aware of that until the 10th.
These people have been throwing private American citizens, contract law, and the long term credibility of the United States of America under a bus, all to cover up their own incompetence in allowing the situation to occur in the first place.
What did Obama-Geithner-Dodd know and when did they know it? It depends on what the meaning of the word know is. Sound familiar?
