Hypocrisy At Notre Dame And MSM

March 30, 2009

These two items are not related except for the astounding level of hypocrisy to be found in each story.

The first episode involves the Notre Dame kerfuffle you’ve probably already heard of, over the traditional invite extended to the newly elected President of the United States, in this case Barack Hussein Obama.

There are lots of people that are upset about a decidedly pro-choicer speaking at a Catholic University. Invite him. Don’t invite him. We here at Founding Bloggers couldn’t care less.

Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs hones in on the hypocrisy exhibited by Notre Dame though, with this observation:

Interestingly, none of these clergymen could muster a single disapproving word when Notre Dame invited radical Islamist Tariq Ramadan to be chairman of their Joan B. Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies.

Good point.

The second episode involves the recent Pat Oliphant cartoon demonizing Jews in classic National Socialist propaganda style. We covered it here.

The Oversneer at Deceiver.com observes the blatant MSM hypocrisy when it comes to respecting religion:

I mean — look at the cartoon! It’s disturbing stuff. And it’s right there on CNN where everyone can see it.

Wha-wha-whaaaaaa? That just can’t be!

I mean, CNN wouldn’t show the now-famous Danish cartoons of Muhammed in 2006. “CNN has chosen to not show the cartoons,” the network said back then, “out of respect for Islam.”

Double-standard? Maybe one for religions whose extreme wing CNN has reason to fear (not to be confused with “respect”). And another for everyone else.

Good point.

Although I’m not a clergyperson, I would have complained about said appointment if I had known. I suspect that miscellaneous clergypeople don’t follow the all the day to day doings of Notre Dame, even if they work at ND. The president of the US’s schedule usually makes the daily news, so more people would be made aware of his activity than that of a chairman of some hippy department at an Indiana university.

The typically leftward leaning NYT seems ambivalent to Ramadan versus out & out hostile:

He doesn’t sound like the “respected academics” William Ayers or Angela Davis in that it doesn’t appear that he has killed anyone, yet. It sounds like he might be double-talking CAIR-like in his outlook on terrorism, though.

Having skimmed through the 6 pages of the NYT article, it does appear that Ramadan is a standard leftist hypocrite. He denounces Zionism as colonialism & yet, unsurprisingly, doesn’t denounce Arab colonialism around the world. Would he support Berbers kicking arabs out of North Africa in the name of anti-colonialism?

Notre Dame has lost its mind. Wait until next year when they are trying to get contributions for their Catholic University. This is no small thing in the Catholic religion! It is bad enough that President Obama believes as he does for abortion but does Notre Dame condone that belief? I think not! This is like the KKK going to speak at an all Afroamerican College…Wake up !!
