[via Kos] The Jon Stewart clip below is worth watching. It makes some good points and some very cheap shots. It is hard to care too much about the cheap shots though, because the Daily Show is an entertainment program and not a news program. People who confuse that are indeed confused.
The best point the piece makes (intentionally or not) is that modern day news rooms have become not much more than parrots of the marketing and PR companies who feed them guests, b-roll footage, and talking points. While that makes the news room’s job less expensive and easier, the downside is that recorded history can be cruel, as evidenced above.
It is incorrect, however, to dismiss what Rick Santelli was speaking to in his rant on CNBC. For the people who protested in the Tea Party rallies across the country, the overwhelming attitude appeared to be against ALL bailouts, not just the mortgage bailout.
