ACORN “Gate Crashing” The Tea Parties?
April 4, 2009 | 55 Comments
Has anyone else out there heard the rumors of ACORN “gate crashing” the tax day Tea Parties?
ACORN is “gate busting” Tea Parties nationwide. These far-left goons are attending them and mispresenting their allegiance. They are getting petitions signed, misrepresenting them as opposition to the Obama agenda. They explain something different than that written on the petition. More fraud, and lies from Obama Acorn people. Please be careful when signing your name to anything at these Tea Parties.
This is interesting, because whether it is true or not, part of the goal is achieved none the less. As a result of people having to be aware of the possibility of dirty tricks like this, doubt is cast on all efforts to gain signatures on anything. That is what the ACORN lives for. Sewing (Thanks for the heads up on the typo!) Sowing doubt in legitimate democratic processes.
One way to handle this is to make sure to politely ask anyone gathering signatures if they wouldn’t mind being photographed with the document they are asking people to sign. Anyone attending a tea party in pubic should expect to end up on camera at some point. Recording devices are ubiquitous so there is certainly no expectation to privacy.
That way, when fraud is detected, the person committing it will have been thoroughly documented.

we are hoping they don’t show up in raleigh but we have a plan should they decide to join us…
An excellent suggestion, also, bloggers can merely say they’re representing their site. Politeness and civility should be the order of the day.
I’ll definitely be on the lookout when I go to our local tea party.
A very good friend of mine had a great suggestion for signing these peitions…let’s all sign…with the name John Galt!
Just goes to show how bi-partisan they are.
And our govenment give them money to do this!!
Thugs
Leave it to the nuts at ACORN to attempt to subvert a rational protest against the tax and spend and tax more liberals in the Obama administration. Free speech for me, but not for thee…. the oldest leftist motto. But the photographing is a good idea. If I attend any T.E.A. parties this next Wednesday, I’ll be sure to make others aware.. maybe even post it on the blog.
At yesterday’s “Carolina Sweet Tea Party” in Charlotte, North Carolina, thankfully there was no “evidence” of an ACORN presence.
Thanks for the heads-up. Your advice is wise and well-timed.
If these people approach you, just make sure you read what they’re asking you to sign, then just chuck their clipboard on to the ground and walk away. Dummy statists don’t like conflict. They’re like the French.
I find this wonderful news. They FEAR us! They understand how powerful the movement is becoming and they fear that if the American people retake the government from the Statists, they will lose all of their funding and power.
“WE THE PEOPLE…” are the most powerful words ever written, and tyrants quake in fear when they hear them.
I clicked your ad at Michelle Malkin’s site, because I thought the “Founding Bloggers” were some who were turning to a reconsideration of the American Founders and their writings.
David Hinz said (April 5, 2009, 11:52 am), “‘WE THE PEOPLE…’ are the most powerful words ever written, and tyrants quake in fear when they hear them.” But tyrants appropriate such notions as “the people” (e.g., Volk), “the will of the people,” and “the general will,” and use them to help establish and maintain the state. If “we the people” are the most powerful words ever uttered (an opinion I doubt), they nevertheless suffer the defect that they can be uttered by anyone and, of course, are always uttered by some one.
Beverly Perlson wrote the following suggestion:
“A very good friend of mine had a great suggestion for signing these peitions…let’s all sign…with the name John Galt!”
While I think this is an excellent idea since John Galt is an Ayn Rand character in her book Atlas Shrugged that represents the power of the individual — I would like to suggest a twist on this suggestion. What if we all sign the petition Barack Obama so the connection between Obama and ACORN becomes more obvious to everyone.
What could be more fitting than to advertise that Obama SUPPORTS Obama’s agendas listed on the petition? A kind of conflict of interest there — wouldn’t ya think?
I’m with mzebest sounds like a great idea to me, if asked, I will sign Barack Obama

I think the first clue would be the level of civility among the persons requesting petitions to be signed. Especially when we are asked to be able to read the petition itself. A leftist radical can not maintain a pleasant demeanor when confronted with facts and kindness. I think they would quickly reveal their true nature.
As for the signatures, I would like to go one step further … we all sign John Galt V. I just pray it does not come to that … but I do have my doubts.

Who cares whether it’s true or not? It’s enough that one person would write something completely unsubstantiated by any evidence whatsoever to make it true!
Likewise, even though the issue with Cape Coral was simply that the organizer didn’t want to comply with the city’s rules – detailed rules involving events with over 500 people which were right there on their website – the fact that they had those rules mean that the city was trying to shut them down!
But, seriously. Click my name’s link for my take on the parties. You might want to also take a look around at my other entries going back to 2002 in order to assess whether you want to trust my take or that of those who spread bogus and possibly bogus stories.
Oh I’m so torn between signing John Galt or Barack Obama. Hmmmmm- Now I’m hoping someone asks me to sign just so I can do that. It’s great we are making them into nervous ninneys. Thanks for the great suggestions and toning my anger at Acorn down. I’m still trying to keep in mind that many of these Acorn people are very nice deep inside, just misinformed. Booo Acorn!!!!!
Oh good, we get to count their numbers when counting attendance at our rallies. Bring your cameras, get their photos. A camera can be a great deterrent to bad guys.
Thanks for the heads up. I will pass this info on to the organizers of the tea party of our state. I hope those acorn folks don’t show up, but in case any of those infiltrators show up I will take video & still shots of them. I will upload to youtube. I will expose them. I will not sign anything.
I know! Let’s all vote for Hillary in the primaries!
Woo!
Wait, what day is this?
I’m just going to bring a camera, and use it if someone really seems to be up to no good. It seems to me more likely that I’ll just take pictures of especially effective and/or hilarious placards and T-shirts.
As far as any ACORN et al types who might show up, my general inclination would be not to engage them at all.
The old Alinsky method is action that has as its objective provoking a reaction.
More than likely what any organizer of leftie action at a Tea Party rally wants more than anything is something meaty to use against the Tea Party cause. That means reactions — such as someone angrily ranting at an ACORN member — captured on video for replay on the Internet.
I’d caution against going into one of these rallies with too much concern about ACORN looking over your shoulder. The important audiences are the voting public and our elected representatives, and they are the ones who need to be persuaded.
Sideshows involving some perceived “infiltration” can distract from the key objective of persuasion.
Is this anything but a rumor? I mean, I clicked the link and I clicked the Malkin article, and I didn’t see any actual evidence that this was going on. Just assertions.
John- Nope. Just rumors. That’s why there is a question mark at the end of the title for this post, and why we specifically ask the question if anyone else has heard anything about it.
People who do not read carefully assume that we are claiming it is a foregone conclusion that this is going to happen. Not true.
So let’s see, a portion of our population has decided that after 8 years of the worst government we’ve seen since the early 70’s, along with people like Malkin, a hateful, spiteful little harpy if ever there was one, think that these silly tea bagging exhibitions are being infiltrated by evil organizations in an attempt to cast aspersions on the patriotic ‘mericans who attend.
Uh-huh, I just wanna know which one of you tatterdemallions is going to bring the “whitey” tape, or the definitive proof that Barry Soetero was actually born in a Kenyan hut, because without that, all you’ll get from the likes of ACORN or those who lean to the political left is what you deserve, a good mocking.
I haven’t read one lefty blog or listened to one lefty commentator who wants you to stop. No Democrat could ever hold you up to ridicule better than you do yourselves. So please, go tea bag one another.
Gather in the parks and let the hate shine on, because there is one thing all rational Americans agree upon, and that’s the likes of Malkin, Limbaugh, Hannity and that idiot snow queen from Alaska are mere sideshows, whipped up by amoral carnies to be displayed to the horror and fascination of the country.
Do go on.
Hey guys. If you don’t want to sign a petition; DON’T! I worked for ACORN. I am a “radical leftist”. Calling us “nice people, but misinformed” is insulting. Can’t you accept that someone disagrees with you and could possibly be right?
Stop letting people herd you into a crowd. Stop letting people tell you that ONE ISSUE is enought to vote for a snake. I don’t buy anything ANYONE tells me unless I’ve researched it to the fullest extent. I suggest you do the same.
One a side note…ACORN does some things I don’t agree with; but voter fraud and illegal activies do not fall into that category. I worked on the Obama campaign and I disagree vehemently with some of the things he has done. Don’t make assumptions about people that you obviously know very little about.
I read you article and I do expect that ACORN people and other Obama sympathizers would do something like that. To them Obama is a god. He can do no wrong, yet Obama is inexperienced and his vision will run this nation into the ground! Not many Americans know that I am, also, a third generation US citizen and that I am willing to fight and die for this nation and for the cause of liberty and justice.

Why, exactly, would you think that we – the radical left of your fantasies – would feel the need to be covert about it? Don’t, however, mistake mockery for sabotage.
But yes, bring your pepper spray and do a smart dust-jacket analysis before you decide to either sign the petition or temporarily blind the poor soul.
Why would anyone waste the energy infiltrating these events?
The truth is we could care less about your teabagging parties. Really. Don’t. Care.
But it’s obvious you are enjoying yourselves with this one.
So carry on, wing nuts!
Is there going to be a need to sign petitions? If not, can we make everyone aware that we are not passing any petitions and if they are approached they should either do the picture or read instead of listen to the explanation. If it is not on the up and up, they will not let you stand there and read it.

Well folks, it’s just a rumor but it doesn’t matter because it might as well be true. I don’t have a shred of evidence, just a link to an online rumor also posted without a shred of evidence, but again…just the fact that wingnuts make up rumors means that ACORN’s nefarious plan is working ! ! !
And the fact that the head of ACORN has never even heard of us is even more proof of how insidious their operation is!

i love how the crazy lefties are so quick to say we send a message of hate. When they stand up for their ideas its for the better good when we do we are ideological buffoons…cave men. All you see is liberal blogs shunning us. We have a voice that will be heard as well. Not everyone is blinded by the mainstream media with their own agendas. It is from my observation a majority of people voted for Obama “to make history”. Not because they believe in what he stands for. And they call us fools!

If you run into them just ask them if they want to become poorer? All this tax and spend is going to make the cost of living go up on everyone but the ones it will effect the most are the poor and middle class. Also they may not even know that the Government is nonproductice it does not produce a product or serveice all its money comes from taxes, not just income taxes but taxes on fuel, licience, phone service, utilities, food, liquior, just about everything and all those fed and state tax will have to go up to pay for all this spending. Taxing the rich won’t even put a dent in this debt. Plus taxing small business who creates 90% of jobs is a dumb idea. Not just because is slows the growth of a company but raises it cost to do business and will then have to raise its prices on it products or service it provides to the consumer. That is where they get the saying businesses don’t pay taxes. In effect they can add them to the cost of doing business which in the end cost you and me. If they don’t get that smack yourself in the head and say I could have had a V-8…
Sign NOTHING from ACORN!!! Here in Ohio they got illegal black votes for Obama, some voted as many as 19 times and they were counted thanks to Ohio’s Dem Attorney General. Sign nothing! Move on! Give em your back!
Please do not sign any petitions or mailing lists, because that way, you will not be able to organize effectively.
ACORN is infiltrating websites like this one and collecting IP addresses! My friend who works at ACORN (long story) told me that they’re hacking computers and stealing all your personal information to send to Lord Obama! DON’T POST ANYTHING ACORN IS WATCHING US

I’m prepared if the libs show up trying to start something. They’ll regret it.
Everyone, please read:
I have no doubts that ACORN will be at the Tea Parties. I know some of you have printed signs. You also need to print large stickers that state, “WARNING! I am an ACORN Operative. Dont believe a word I say,” and gently place the sticker on the backs of an obvious operative. They will be easy to spot because they dont have a clue what we are organizing for. Identify the problem, isolate it, exploit it. Isnt that what their book says?
The organized effort to supress the tea parties is real. At a restaurant called Chiefs Wings and Firewater in Greenville South Carolina, ACORN “representatives” tried to convince management to cancel their tea-party event, and when that failed, they vandalized the restroom, including destruction of flyers for the event and smearing human excrement on the walls. I personally called this place and verified the event really happened. The number is 864-xxx-xxxx [number removed]. The odd thing the woman told me is the vandalism was done in the ladies room. What’s up with that?
You people need to wake up and smell the change! You can organize your little party with two or three groups of people attending. And you’ll make your great statement again, just like you did when you elected John McCain… Oh wait, that’s right, he lost!
I just found out there is a nice Tea Party planned in Eustis, Fl today, starting at 11 or so. There is another on the courthouse steps in Orlando about 6p. Ya’ll come! And if any whiny ACORN thugs show up, smile, hand them literature if you have it and walk away. Do not engage these trolls. That’s what they want. I too will be taking pics and posting them.

The day after! Was lots of fun.Did run into cute college girl asking people to sign a petition. I told the ladies she was asking about reading this warning and they didn’t sign. the girl told her it was in opposition to Obama budget. Felt bad that maybe she was lagit and then she came back and told another guy it was in support of our Gov. Mark Sanford! I cut her off and said to the guy, “I know she’s cute but she’s a liar!” She said I had her confused with someone else! It was tempting to want to follow her around but she left. She did however have a bunch of signatures. The paper that people were signing had nothing on it but numbers of signatures. I was surprised that people were signing a petition with nothing in writing! Taking advantage of trusting passionate people.
