Chicago Tea Party Rejects Michael Steele
April 9, 2009 | 11 Comments
Maybe this isn’t just a group of ideological “wingnuts”.
CHICAGO TEA PARTY ORGANIZERS REJECT A SPEAKING BID FROM MICHAEL STEELE. This illustrates two things. First, the increasing haplessness of Steele, who hasn’t performed nearly as well as I’d expected. And, more significantly, the growth of the Tea Party movement as a grassroots outside-the-establishment phenomenon that has become so big that establishment figures are trying to jump onboard.
Interesting.
And on the “wingnut” issue, people on the right spent 8 years getting it wrong about the exact makeup of the protest movement on the left. Now the left might be making the same mistake by dismissing this as just a bunch of angry Republicans. There are a bunch of angry Republicans to be sure, but what if the base for these protests is broader? What will the Progressive Democrats do if the rest of the body politic actually is solidifying against them?

Liberty is non partisan.
I hope that this movement grows and is a real threat to the unbridled orgy of spending that Hussein and the American Gov’ment has engaged in for the last few decades.
I don’t think the Tea Party events are necessarily anti-Republican, but that participants are tired of the bull from both parties, and don’t want it to be a partisan event.
Godspeed to this legitimate groundswell of patriotism. It was why our Nation was founded.
Stop Socialism in its tracks. No cash….no largesse. This ends now.

I will be participating in Chicago’s Tax Day Tea Party. A friend and I have already made 12 signs for that day. We are particpating because we are disgusted and annoyed with both parties and the elitist attitude of the politicians and their deaf-ear to us, citizens. We have definitely made it known via e-mail to the organizers of this event that we do not want this day to in any way be a partisan event. And I agree that if Steele wants to come and join the event like any other Joe/Jane Doe citizen, he is more than welcome. He is NOT however, welcome, to come and participate in any form as a politician. This is a day for citizens to become active and vocal and participate in letting politicans know what we stand for.
I am a conservative, and no longer a republican. The republican party left me and many other conservatives when they started acting like liberal democrats. They injected more programs and added more funding to old ones. I was glad to see the tea party chairman in Chicago say nix to Michael Steele. I hope all the other tea parties throughout the country do the same to Mr. Steele and the other rhinos and moderate republicans. Only conservative republicans need apply….
I’m glad Steele was rejected. I also am concerned FoxNews is glomming on to the Taxday Teaparties. This is a grassroots movement against the Dems, the GOP and the Media that enables them. Pro Constitution, anti Progressive, a coalition of the people who support the Founder’s America. The GOP has long ways to go to get THERE. Steele has got to do some hard work on his party before he can relate to the Teaparty movement. Great blog!
It’s not about the Donkey or the Elephant. It is about out of control Gov. spending, and that is all.
Middle class America will no longer stand by as our politicians spend America into obliva.
Come on folks.
These bailouts are FASCISM, not Socialism. Learn the difference.
As for the Republican party embracing the values of “Liberal Democrats?” Since when does a liberal embrace trampling all over the 4th amendment?
This divisiveness has got to stop. It’s not about left-right, or Republican-Democrat, it’s uber-connected & uber-wealthy vs. the rest of us. And sorry, if you make less than $2 million a year, you’re not one of them. And if you DO make around $2 million a year, you’re not invited to the COOL parties cause you’re not in the billionaires club.
We need a revolution in this country. We need to reign in the government, Fed, Big Business, and the Mass Media. Their self-serving greedy, profit-at-all-cost approach must end.
Big Brother has been watching and controlling us for too long. It is time we turned the tide!
