Founding Bloggers For A Better Tea Party (VIDEO)

April 16, 2009

When we covered the Democrat protests, we saw a lot of Bush-as-Hitler images and depictions, and they always made us cringe.

You know what? Even though they appear with far less frequency, Obama-as-Hitler images at the Tea Parties evoke the same cringe.

President Obama might be a socialist hell-bent on destroying our way of life, but as of yet there is no evidence that he is planning on executing the genetically inferior by the millions. Until there is a shred of genuine reason to believe that President Obama is on the path toward becoming a mass murderer, can we please leave the Hitler signs at home?

We here at Founding Bloggers are observer/supporters of the Tea Party movement – to that end, our hope is that Tea Partiers will not provide detractors with fodder and propaganda opportunities.

I fully agree with what you are saying. I attended the Denver CO Tea Party and there were a few, very few, signs that were objectionable to me. This is not, or should not, be a hate BO movement. It is, or should, be a movement against the budgets, Fed and State and Local, that spend without cutting, and will soon raise taxes. Local levels are already doing that with fees. I do not want to pay for someone elses mistakes. BUt if someone truly is in need then we help them, not make them “whole”.

Excellent point about the Hitler comparisons. Those aren’t going to help persuade anyone to oppose wanton taxing and spending, but they will help the left paint the Tea Partiers as being on the fringe.

Besides, there needs to be a strong symbol in reserve in case Napolitano starts rounding us up.

I don’t think this guy was “one of us.” If you notice, most of the people there were pretty informed on what they were talking about. This guy kept throwing out the same three talking points: Obama is a facist like Hitler was, the real pirates are in Washington, and we need one-term limits. I wonder if someone like ACORN or some other leftist group threw him out there with a few talking points and told him to stake out the cameras and make us look like crazies. That’s just my take on it, but until the guy comes forward and proves he’s for real, I don’t buy it.

  5. WRPAC on April 16, 2009 at 8:03 pm

We have such a strong argument, it troubles me that many of those on the right resort to useless comparisons. I can understand how frustrated many of us feel but the greatest asset we have is our ability to back our points up with fact.

The other side is quick to resort to name calling and accusations of racism and such to mask the fact that they cannot sustain a debate on their platform.

Thanks for the great coverage and the followup video to Susan Roesgen’s interaction with the crowd.

  6. Kathy Barkulis on April 16, 2009 at 9:52 pm

I am the woman in your video scolding the CNN reporter. I agree with you totally about the Hitler images. They’re offensive and counterproductive. That is why I was complaining to her, because I didn’t think they represented the majority of us. Could some of those people be ACORN plants trying to make us all look bad? Anyway, it bothered me that she chose to focus on that guy with the Obama-Hitler images, and that’s why I called her out on it.

  7. The Rude Dog on April 16, 2009 at 11:52 pm

While I do not relish the violation of Godwin’s law, I am jaded after a decade of Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh as hitler. Also eight years of Bush as Hitler and Cheney as Darth Vader.

So when a kook, who is probably a leftist anyway, holds up a Hitler-Obama sign, it simply carries no weight after the tidal wave orgy of Republicans as Satan garbage this last decade.

In the end it is sad that this level of simplistic sniping takes place.

I suggest that each time someone sees a Hitler-Obama sign wielder, we enagage them about why they say Obama is like Hitler. I think it will go a long way.

Hopefully they don’t bring up Obama gave $900 million to Hamas.

    Sorry, couldn’t resist.

  8. Tea-Brain on April 17, 2009 at 1:22 am

You know what they say… There’s always an ass in the crowd! I hear what you are saying but let’s not put the fire out because of the likes of him!!

    Keep the Constitution ALIVE!!

  9. Atomic Lib Smasher on April 17, 2009 at 11:48 am

I agree. The guy’s sign was a bit over the top. Now we can equate some of Hitler’s policies such as gun control and nationalization with Obama’s plans (and of course the Hitler Youth full of Obamunists), but to characterize Obama as Hitler… yeah, we have better messages than that. And the guy’s sign is apt to turn some people off and give fodder to the leftists. My sign I had at the T.E.A. party (which you can see by checking my blog) read “Obamunism – Impoverish America – YES WE CAN!” It was provocative but I wanted to be that way because if someone maybe who didn’t know much about politics came up and talked to me and asked me about the sign I could explain it.

Kathy, good call and excellent responses to the so-called reporter from CNN. From the clips I’ve seen on the tea parties from other sources, I believe everyone for the most part were well behaved. I think our main purpose should be to educate American voters. Our politicians on both sides have waited too long to even begin to side with us, a case of too little too late.

We need term limits and we need to start from scratch.

    Founding Fathers,
THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU for being there with your camera and showing America the REST of the story – saw your video on FoxNation.com – and it was featured on Hannity last night. That CNN reporter is the reason why Americans are SO weary, so frustrated. Her “reporting” was disgusting her mission transparent – rip Americans down. May you ALWAYS have a crew that follow CNN around – MAY YOU ALWAYS continue to expose these frauds for what they are. Congrats to all the production staff.

    BOOKMARKED your BLOG!

    Sincerely,

    Julia

I would like to echo the sentiment that ‘Hitler’ comparison signs should be left at home. Not every thought should be expressed at a protest. Hitler comparisons are the extremist tactic of the ‘left’ and have no place in a Tea Party Protests. We must strive to always have more class, honor, and intelligence in our protests.

  13. Andrea on April 17, 2009 at 5:19 pm

I don’t think that the Hitler signs do anything except isolate moderates who might otherwise be sympathetic to our cause.

But as to the statement “but as of yet there is no evidence that he is planning on executing the genetically inferior by the millions, ” I am not so sure. Have you read Daschle’s book? Essentially the sick and the old will be left to die in the brave new world of American socialized medicine.

I’m as frustrated as anyone with the breakneck expansion of government. Sometimes I want to break things. For a while I gave some thought to a very inflammatory sign to carry at a TEA Party.

However, preaching to the converted isn’t likely to do much good. It’s the person on the fence who’s important to the cause. References to Hitler, foul language, yelling (at people, anyway), and leaving trash after demonstrations all are the kinds of things that can make the TEA Party look bad.

The left, and in particular the left wing media, has shown poor temper control here. On-air tantrums aren’t likely to help the big-government cause, and I’d like to think that at least a few independent souls have been disgusted by the smirking on-air sexual references by supposed “reporters.”

So my thought is to redouble efforts to protest as good citizens and to err on the side of civility. At worse, that will only goad the thin-skinned left into further displays of arrogance and stupidity, the sort of thing that might not play well among the great silent majority.

Way to go! My husband and I attended the sacramento rally and I tell you I have never been in such a well behaved huge crowd.. I think only once did i hear or see something offensive… But I certainly think this needs to be said and I agree 100%!!! Let’s be above it all and stick to the issues. Name calling and bashing is non productive. Facts and education always wins.

THANK YOU! to Kathy for standing up for all of us and to the Founding Bloggers for recording it and sharing it with us all!

I attended the St. Louis Tea Party. There were a small number of objectionable signs, but the vast majority were legitimate calls for smaller government and less spending.

Thank you also to the Founding Bloggers for making the case against offensive signs/comments. I made sure my 15 year old son read this piece. It’s important to stand up for what you believe, but it’s equally important HOW you do that.

  18. Laurel North on April 17, 2009 at 11:03 pm

Let’s keep it real and to the point. We are the silent majority no longer silent. Speak with conviction; logic and fairness. We want what our forefathers sacrificed for us no more no less. Let the buffoons be gently guided towards the common good. Our cause is just; it is a great movement; let wisdom prevail.

I had the pleasure of seeing you at the Chicago Tea Party and you interviewed my boyfriend. I was wondering if I could get a copy of his interview (even if you don’t use it) and I couldn’t find a contact email on your site.

BTW, I’m so glad you were there to get the ‘rest of the story’ to quote the late Paul Harvey when Susan Roesgan decided to be a propogandist instead of a reporter. I agree that the Hitler guy was probably a plant of some sort since he had no cogent argument.

Kudos to the lady who took Roesgan to task!!

When I first saw the comment of no Hitler comparisons, I did not agree. Freedom of expression is one of the things we are trying to protect. But, after reading the comments, I do tend to agree.
I attended a small rally only 2-300 people, and I honestly did not see any controversial signs like that.
We sang patriotic songs, said the pledge, repeated the preamble to the constitution, there were all ages, all races, all political parties, love and peace at our rally.
I, for one, am glad that the CNN confrontation seems to be the most violent of them all. And I am boycotting CNN.

  21. EricJohn on April 19, 2009 at 9:43 pm

Sir or Madam: While I agree that it is repulsive to look at, the Obama-as-Hitler signs are historically close to the truth as far as the beginnings of how Hitler took over Germany. Hitler slowly abolished the German constitution, using the economic emergency as an excuse to set it aside and RULE BY DECREE. If you people cannot see that Obama is doing the exact same thing, I’m sorry you are so blind. Look at all of the unconstitutional things Obama and his henchmen are doing now. Second, to put down any resistance, Hitler ABOLISHED THE PRIVATE OWNERSHIP OF GUNS. Just google JPFO and see how this closely parallels what Obama is trying to do. Anyone with a brain bigger than a pea knows Obama wants to BAN ALL GUNS IN PRIVATE HANDS, again, just like Hitler. You admit Obama is a socialist, and SO WAS HITLER–National Socialist Party, N-A-Z-I. Socialists all have one thing in common, and that is they have no regard for any rules or laws that do not serve their devious purposes, and that describes Obama perfectly. Another personality match is Hitler as megalomaniac, Obama as MEGALOMANIAC. This man actually thinks he is God, and so do many of his followers, or haven’t you noticed? Also, Janet Napolitano publically describes all right-wingers including ex-military as enemies of the state, and is now using the awesome powers of the federal government to target anyone who disagrees with Obama. If you cannot see the police state being formed RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSES, you are hopelessly naive and blind indeed. I think the real problem here is that you are bound by political correctness and just don’t want to admit it and/or face the consequences of being shouted down, because Obama is not as bad as we say, HE IS WORSE!

  22. Reader One on April 19, 2009 at 11:57 pm

I appreciate your objection to Hitler comparisons.
I also fear steps toward any kind of dictatorship.
Thank you for presenting both sides.

  23. EricJohn on April 20, 2009 at 3:48 am

As an addendum to my comments above, please refer to this chart below put out by Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO). Jews, Christians, political opponents, “gypsies” et al, have consistantly been the targets of gun control schemes, which often happens just before a mass genocide occurs. This is a plain fact of history. Please see:

    http://www.jpfo.org/filegen-a-m/deathgc.htm#chart

I reiterate, the bottom line is, WE ARE DEALING WITH CORRUPT FANATICS. They know once they are discovered for what they are by the American people, they are out of here. So to prevent that from happening, they will use their power to destroy their opposition any way they can. Napolitano, who answers directly to Obama and serves at his pleasure, HAS A LIST, and if you are a returning war vet, are a sincere Christian, or are opposed to gun control, abortion, illegal immigration, and insane, economically ruinous, unconstitutional bailouts, YOU ARE ON HER LIST! Face the truth and deal with reality. These government agents are at our rallies taking our pictures, because they are playing for keeps, and if we hope to win the hearts and minds of the American people, we have to find a way to blow the whistle and tell them the truth. Remember Hitler did not start out gassing Jews and throwing them into ovens as your FoundingBlogger comment suggests. He slyly, “harmlessly” started out by TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE ECONOMIC EMERGENCY and setting aside the constitution and RULING BY DECREE. Along the way he instituted GUN CONTROL, by which he disarmed his victims and destroyed any effective resistance. Also remember that the German economy was destroyed by hyperinflation, which came from PRINTING MONEY irresponsibly. Where is Obama going to get all of that money to cover trillions in irresponsible, wasteful spending? DELIBERATE Overtaxation and Hyperinflation! Is Obama Hitler yet? No, but not for want of trying, and the parallels are not exact anyway, but the direction is alarmingly similar. So in conclusion I agree we want to be careful about the picture we present, but we also have to tell the truth so that we can wake people up to the very real danger we are facing with this evil, depraved demagogue.

In the initial comments on this particular posting there was a note mentioned from the Founding Bloggers that “until there is a shred of genuine reason to believe that President Obama is on the path toward becoming a mass murderer, can we please leave the Hitler signs at home?”. As I have read the other posts, I understand and agree with the need to keep ‘focus’ on what the real issues are in the Tea Parties. This helps our credibility as a movement and I don’t believe it is time to try to prove that because of Obama’s attempt to socialize our nation, that we need to use the “hitler card” at the tea parties YET. That may need to come later in some form, maybe or maybe not at the tea parties. I don’t know what will be necessary to prove the motives and mindset of Obama to the mind-controlled, idolatrous American people, but as a pro-lifer I believe we have observed that Obama has no regard for life due to the many, many orders, laws, policies he has already overturned since the Bush administration that allow for abortion on demand more than ever to include late term abortions, funding abortions internationally and of course funding abortions domestically to include embryonic stem cell research. Everything (that I know of) that could be overturned by Obama that Bush put in law or changed after Clinton, has been overturned. This is what I and the pro-life community refer to as a silent mass murder license by Obama. Granted, everyone on this blog probably is not pro-life, but for me 50 million precious babies that God created up to Obama’s administration since Roe v. Wade have been murdered, even with Bush’s attempt to change policies, etc,. With the Obama law/policy turnovers, the numbers worldwide will go off the charts again. There must be some disregard for life and some form of murder in his heart because he quickly promised to Planned Parenthood during his campaign that he would overturn Bush’s orders against abortion as the first order of business in the Oval Office. The FIRST? He has no remorse at these acts and feel they promote good things. So what will we see in the future for those that are walking on this earth, particularly the vulnerable as the sick, elderly and mentally challenged. What was Hitler’s mindset as he slowly moved into a controlling dictatorship and tyrant? EricJohn’s earlier comments are in my opinion correct on Hitler’s slow process of deception. How did he WIN the people and their trust first before initiating controlling programs that would destroy them? He didn’t like imperfect humans in his attempt at “perfect” world order. How did he deal with the imperfections in children, youth and adults? How did he come to decide that he knew which lives were valuable and which ones needed to be terminated? Are we not seeing that Obama has made solo decisions about the economy without the checks and balances of Congress? Are there similarities in our society now? I think so.

  25. Lynn on April 20, 2009 at 11:29 am

Regarding my previous post – the mind-controlled, idolatrous people of America that I mentioned without anymore description or categorizing were ONLY those who have fully embraced the Obama team and his efforts to govern this nation. I apologize if someone reads the first post and doesn’t read this one in time. Not everyone obviously is agreeing with Obama as we know. My 3 yr old has been running around my feet this morning. I apologize.

  26. kim on April 21, 2009 at 11:17 am

I have to agree. The less “we” behave like the Left, the more credibility we have to those who are waking up from the “cool-aid induced stupor” that has befallen a huge number of American people. Comparing the current President to Hitler is just copying the Left’s view that Pres. Bush was Hitler.

I would further like to encourage everyone to clean up after themselves, be informed about the issues (in case the media should ask) and everyone that is able to bring digital cameras and camcorders, recording devices, etc. As has been proven over and over again, the main stream media is not above creative editing and outright lying about events at the tea parties.

Everyone heading to Washington for the 4th?
