This Moral Dilemma Brought To You By Pakistan

April 27, 2009

Gateway Pundit has a very disturbing video example of sharia law as practiced in Pakistan. It documents a man and a woman being murdered allegedly for being guilty of being accused of having an affair.

Pakistan’s new life under the Taliban.

As one of Gateway Pundit’s readers observes:

You know what? The Pakistanis cheered the Taliban when they were killing Afghans and Americans. Oh, were the Pakistanis proud! Their “brothers” were striking a blow for Islam. Not the sort of Islam that most Pakistanis wanted to practice, but Muslims have a saying: I against my brother, my brother and I against our cousin, my brother and cousin and I against the world.

So now, the Taliban is at the gates of Islamabad, and the Pakistanis who cheered when Americans died are wailing in terror.

Oh the moral and strategic dilemma! If we destroy (or help destroy) the Taliban in Pakistan, we are being evil, grandiose, arrogant, aggressive, militaristic imperialists again. Worse still, likely the only effective way to do that is to overtly support a brutal dictator that is going to do some things with our help which won’t look pretty on TV. There are those that would tell you ‘that’s why they hate us in the first place.’

If we do nothing, and let these lunatics own Pakistan, millions will die when the inevitable occurs. The mullahs will simply not be able to resist using a nuke on an infidel. In the meantime, millions of innocent people will be terrorized as shariah spreads across the land like a fascist wildfire (Can you say Darfur?). Is that the moral choice?

Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t. Given the choices, let’s error on the side of trying to protect American and allied lives. One would have to be a complete political nincompoop to fail in an effort to build an alliance of nations with a common interest against this threat. Right?

Too bad Western civilization isn’t worth protecting because we are ruining the planet by driving cars, practicing capitalism, and generally lacking the proper level of understanding for ideologies (not naming names) steeped in misogyny and homicidal xenophobia. If only we were worthy, this would be a totally easy decision to make.
