Barack Obama promised no tax increases for people earning less than $250,000, and a tax cut for 95% of Americans.
That is unless they buy things like cars (or anything else):

How are the Progressives going to ensure that the price only goes up for those earning more than $250,000.00?
I think the only thing the progressive/liberals will do is ensure that there’s another tax attached to USED car purchases which will likely blossom for decades.

under the FairTax, used cars would not be taxed since they would have already been taxed when they were purchased the first time new.
