Change! Obama Fundraiser Rewarded With “Plum Ambassadorship”

President Barack Obama will soon name a Chicagoan and one of his top political fundraisers [Louis Susman] to a plum ambassadorship, according to reports in the British press. [READ MORE]

This is exactly the kind of appointment that breeds voter cynicism toward our government. If ambassador to one of our most important allies (during wartime, no less) goes to the person who can raise the most money, what does it say about the seriousness with which the administration approaches the strategic relationship between our nations?

What does it say about the real worth of the ambassador position? If anyone can do it, why do we need it? We could save a ton of cash by shutting down overseas offices led by anyone who can raise a buck.
