Mary Mapes On The George Tiller Murder

May 31, 2009

For those not already aware, an anti-abortion nut job terrorist murdered a doctor today in Kansas:

Tiller, 67, was shot once just after 10 a.m. in the lobby of Reformation Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the congregation. [LINK]

Off the top, this brutal act of violence has no justification. It matters not what you think about abortion. This was murder and the person who did it should face execution.

Quoting Charles Johnson who hits the nail on the head when it comes to some people’s reaction to the murder:

This is very, very bad craziness, at its worst. Shame on all you people who are gloating and partying over a murder that took place inside a church. And you call yourselves “Christians?” What the hell is wrong with you?

Not unrelated to Charles Johnson, disgraced former 60 minutes producer turned Huffington Post writer, Mary Mapes is weighing in with her perspective:

I felt just sick today when I saw the bulletin about the murder of Dr. George Tiller.

Sicker still when I saw the “sympathy” letter issued by officials at Operation Rescue, the virulent anti-abortion organization that dogged this poor man for the past two decades. The statement said, “We pray for Mr. Tiller’s family.”

They had better say a few prayers for their own souls. They had better pray for forgiveness for relentlessly working to make this man a target.

We can’t disagree with this one bit. Zealots on the anti-abortion side of the debate share responsibility for making this man a target.

This has been a long time coming, and no one has played a greater part in the run-up to the doctor’s death than Operation Rescue. Their leaders — and all of the group’s enablers — should be cowering in shame today.

Yep.

After this country’s seemingly endless assaults and murders of clinic doctors and staff, the explosions and fire bombings, the vandalism and harassment, it’s clear that this violent behavior is not a natural outgrowth of religious belief or moral concerns.

This is not part of a disagreement over when life begins.

This is terrorism.

Again, we are in total agreement.

But we wonder if Mapes, or anyone on the left, would agree that SEIU and ACORN and the pitchfork President make targets of innocent people in much the same way. Will they profess their outrage when one of their targets is murdered?

Do they express any rage when Muslim bigots fomenting hatred towards “infidels”, leads inevitably to the deaths of millions around the world?

Pardon us if we conclude that Mapes and the rest of the class warfare left have very little credibility to criticise anyone on this topic.

I don’t agree with murder. But how many people complained about all the little innocent babies Tiller murdered? God said you live by the sword, you die by the sword. It’s a shame someone has to commit murder to kill a murderer. All of the murdered babies are in Heaaven–Where is Tiller’s soul this morning? All of the money Tiller made off of killing babies, how much is it worth to him now?

    Jeanette-

You said: “God said you live by the sword, you die by the sword.”

Answer: I’m pretty sure a man said that.

You Said: “It’s a shame someone has to commit murder to kill a murderer.”

Answer: Someone didn’t have to. They chose to. Big difference.

On reading the news I was struck by Operation Rescue’s twice referring to DOCTOR Tiller as “Mister”. Was this an attempt to denigrate him by a group that evidently makes its own rules outside of society?

This situation offers a great test to see who are the real Antichrists–those who think and act against the true teachings.

One name of the Antichrist is Mabus = MAY B US?

    Peace to the world.

Sure, it’s bad that Tiller the Killer was murdered in cold blood inside his church by a nutjob, but I’m not shedding any tears after hearing things his “clinic” has done for years.
