Teachers Union Refuses Any Concessions

May 7, 2009

[via Chicago Breaking News] What happened to everybody needing to make sacrifices in hard times? That must not apply to teachers’ unions.

The teachers union is lobbying against Quinn’s proposal that asks retired teachers and other state workers to kick in 2 percent more to their retirement plan.

Union must mean not having to be subject to market forces.

Perhaps President Obama can swoop down and bailout Illinois public pensions, handing the unions a 55% ownership stake in all state operations, with the feds grabbing an 8% ownership stake for themselves.

That way, the feds can tell the state public schools what to teach, just like they are going to dictate what kinds of cars can be built. With 8% ownership, and the press on your side, you can do almost anything.
