US Navy Fails To Engage Pirates After Being Fired Upon

Reuters is reporting that pirates fired on the US Navy, and instead of blowing the Seahadis out of the water, sending them to their virgins, the Navy sped up to get away.

The small arms fire fell well short of the U.S. ship which speeded up to evade the skiffs.

Why not kill them? It would seem wise to have a standing policy of destroying anyone/anything directing hostile fire at our military, no? As WinkyDog observes:

So the next ship seized, may be taken by pirates who fired on the United States Navy, and got away with it….

Think of what a morale booster that must have been, for the fiercest naval officers on the planet.

They might actually stop or atleast curb their activities if they thought they were fish in a barrel.

They must be following some rule of engagement established by a bureacart at the DOD. Any ship that fires on a US Navy veseel should be sunk!
