Hypocrisy Watch: Now That We Are Printing And Spending The Next Generation’s Wealth, We Need PayGo!
June 25, 2009 | 2 Comments
Democrat Steny Hoyer and Democrat George Miller are pushing the limits of hypocrisy to new heights with their op/ed in today’s Wall Street Journal.
Now that the Democrats have passed world record shattering spending on social(ist) programs, they are insisting our financial ruin is all Republicans’ fault, while Democrats are the responsible ones who are here to save the day.
The worst part of this is having to endure being preached to by politicians who voted for this nation’s largest spending package in history, without even bothering to read it!:
A number of factors have brought us to this cash-strapped point, including reckless tax cuts, the cost of two wars, entitlement programs that have grown on autopilot, and the necessary, though costly, efforts to get our economy out of recession.
Are Hoyer and Miller implying Bush should have raised taxes after 9/11, and written a communique to the leading islamists around the world to inform them that we can’t afford the war ala PayGo, and so we are not going to defend ourselves against the global jihad?
President George W. Bush and the Republican Congress set paygo aside, turning borrowed money into massive tax cuts for the most privileged. Borrowing made those tax cuts politically pain-free as long as Mr. Bush was in office, but it only passed the bill on to the next generation — along with ever-inflating interest payments.
The Democrat answer to what they define as flawed policy is to increase the spending and borrowing by 400%? Will Democrat borrowing and spending not carry interest payments?
President Obama has made the pay-as-you-go rule — a.k.a. “paygo” — a central part of his campaign for fiscal responsibility.
PayGo??? How about READ-GO. The Congress and the Executive should be forced by law to read the spending bills they are passing.
Democrats, on the other hand, understand that we owe it to our fiscal future to pay our bills up-front.
Wow! That’s enough.
They didn’t even feel they owed it to us in the present to read the “stimulus” spending bill. Suddenly they are the responsible ones who owe it to our grandchildren?
Democrats who want to sell President Obama as the poster child of “fiscal responsibility”…Good luck! His name is synonymous with spending money we don’t have. The word Democrat should be synonymous with printing cash.
Thank god for Democrats!
The unfortunate part is Republicans aren’t much better on this record. They only look good next to the Democrats.
The main difference among the voters is that the average conservative has turned away in disgust from the Republican flavor of statism. Why is it the average non-Koolaid drinking Democrat hasn’t done the same in reaction to their party?
There must be American patriots on the left who could join American patriots on the right, to form a coalition who’s goal would be to remove the statists from office, irrespective of party affiliation.

FOUNDING BLOGGERS ON BIG GOVERNMENT

Will the government ever realize that we need to stop spending money and take time to step back and logically work things out.
