The Obama Ice Cream Scandal
June 21, 2009 | 10 Comments
Several prominent bloggers are taking Obama to task for being photographed eating ice cream while Iranian freedom fighters are being slaughtered by the Islamic regime.
John Hinderaker of Powerline makes the following observation:
But that isn’t really a fair comparison; it’s not like Obama should have been holed up in a war room somewhere.
True enough, but we think John might be missing the point. Obama didn’t have to make a photo op out of his trip to the ice cream store. But he did, and it represents a political tone deafness that opens him up to ridicule.
Just as we see images coming from Iran, they see images coming from America. What is going to happen if the revolution succeeds, and the new leadership looks back on what the American president was doing while they were dying for freedom?
They were being slaughtered while Barack ate ice cream. It will be hard for them to avoid remembering that image.
Next time Barack wants to take his kids out for ice cream while young people are dying while trying to unseat our common enemy, perhaps he shouldn’t turn it into a photo op.

We ALL scream for ice cream?
looks like the flavor of ice cream he’s enjoying is “indifference”….
Don’t you believe it!!! Obama would be in the middle of this emerging as the peacemaker but “he can’t”. Now who has control of him…certainly not the Americans. He just doesn’t get it or…is so indebted that he can’t move! More to come on this. Later…Carole ps. it’s not hard to figure out!
Obama is an embarrassment to the USA. Send the trailer trash back to Chicago. Maybe Acorn will give him a job stealing votes for Blago.
And what was he doing today? Playing golf with VP Biden. Ding dang the man is whiz.
Why do the Obama kids get to eat ice cream when their mother is out lecturing about “the obesity epidemic” and how the government needs to regulate what foods parents are allowed to purchase and give their children? Seriously! I find that more “tone deaf” and hypocritical–and wrong–than taking an hour to spend some time with his kids.
(Playing golf two weekends in a row? The media would have crucified Bush)
Heather, to answer your question, it’s because for the Statist, the rules they preach & enact do not apply to themselves–they know better than us, therefore, they’re exempt from the legislation they impose on us. their legislation is for OUR benefit, not theirs….
& re: the hypocrisy, & how bush would have fared (no pun intended), you are right on the mark.

Jeebus…you people have your heads so firmly lodged up your asses, I’m amazed you can even breathe. What a group of pathetic douchebags.
jeebus,
excellent point – well reasoned, rhetorically sound. “but i don’t even believe in jeebus…”
why is it that liberals must always resort to name-calling instead of honest debate?
