We’ve mentioned in previous posts how Congressman Mark Kirk of Illinois on the surface seemed like a great Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate but his actions revealed otherwise. Now John Gizzi at Human Events discusses how Kirk’s Cap-And-Trade vote in favor of that tax scheme may have proven to be his undoing – especially amongst his Republican colleagues.
But all that cheerleading for Kirk from the Republican House Members came to a screeching halt on June 26th, as the Chicago-area lawmaker cast one of the eight Republican votes in the House that was pivotal to the passage of “cap and trade” by a margin of 219-to-213.
Even liberal Republican Rep. Judy Bigert (R.-Ill.), who shares Kirk’s non-conservative social issues, was reportedly angry with her colleague for a vote in favor of what she said would lead to a “war on the middle class,” according to my Illinois GOP source.
Those previous Mark Kirk posts warrant a recap including Mark Kirk voting in favor of this same bill that he likely did not even have time to read which also contains an important update courtesy of Michelle Malkin. Note also that the video from the post has now been tagged “private” on YouTube.
Then there’s the other mystifying assault by Kirk on stronger-than-average marijuana with a severe incarceration duration for a first offense.

Kirk has voted along Republican votes on the Obama budget, the card check legislation, the stimulus, the omnibus, and other pieces of legislation. He has been influential in helping lower the budget on a number of other issues. Every candidate including Kirk needs to be analyzed on a fuller overlook of his voting record. Kirk should be voted into Senate because he is the best candidate to help Illinois.
Mark Kirk cant be our best candidate for Illinois senate seat. Thats like saying McCain was the best nominee we had for president last year.Kirk is for Cap and Trade which is devastating for business in general and McCain was for the ficticious Global Warming.
