If Americans must possess as a moral imperative, the acknowledgment of past atrocities like slavery (as well we should), certainly we can spend some time dwelling on the horrors of progressive era “science” as practiced in the early 20th century.
Thankfully, slavery is long gone and doesn’t appear to be on the horizon, threatening to return to our shores. The same cannot be said about progressive era “science”, and since Michelle Malkin and Stacy McCain have raised the issue, we thought now would be a good time to chime in with one small addition to the narrative.
It’s important because the last time Progressives held sway over social and scientific institutions, they ultimately spawned an ideology that inspired a young Hitler, and financially funded the epicenter of Nazi Germany’s racist intelligentsia.
Confused? That will soon turn to outrage when you read about the subject. Start here with Stacy McCain’s great post about the the role liberal foundations have played in supporting extremist population control theories and practices.
After reading McCain’s post, visit the website for the book War Against The Weak.
The book details how the American progressive movement embraced eugenic theory, and used it to justify the forced sterilization and imprisonment of the so called “inferior”. The book details exactly how wealthy Progressive foundations in the US were the source of inspiration, and in some cases financial support, for none other than Adolf Hitler.
The main culprits were the Carnegie Institution, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Harriman railroad fortune, in league with America’s most respected scientists hailing from such prestigious universities as Harvard, Yale and Princeton, operating out of a complex at Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island. The eugenic network worked in tandem with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the State Department and numerous state governmental bodies and legislatures throughout the country, and even the U.S. Supreme Court. They were all bent on breeding a eugenically superior race, just as agronomists would breed better strains of corn. The plan was to wipe away the reproductive capability of the weak and inferior.Ultimately, 60,000 Americans were coercively sterilized — legally and extra-legally. Many never discovered the truth until decades later. Those who actively supported eugenics include America’s most progressive figures: Woodrow Wilson, Margaret Sanger and Oliver Wendell Holmes.
American eugenic crusades proliferated into a worldwide campaign, and in the 1920s came to the attention of Adolf Hitler. Under the Nazis, American eugenic principles were applied without restraint, careening out of control into the Reich’s infamous genocide. During the pre-War years, American eugenicists openly supported Germany’s program. The Rockefeller Foundation financed the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute and the work of its central racial scientists. Once WWII began, Nazi eugenics turned from mass sterilization and euthanasia to genocidal murder. One of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute doctors in the program financed by the Rockefeller Foundation was Josef Mengele who continued his research in Auschwitz, making daily eugenic reports on twins.
There are people on the left who’s heads will implode from the pressure of incredulous disbelief upon reading the above passage, but we wish them luck discrediting the author. If you read the book, you will also learn about how IBM leased and operated the computing machines that produced the Nazi eugenic database used to cross reference bloodlines, traits, religions, and addresses. In no small way, the Nazis owe their efficiency to IBM, but that’s another story.
By no means do we think President Obama is a believer in the eugenically perfect Nordic race, but Michelle Malkin is correct to question why he would appoint John Holdren as “Science Czar”, a man who appears to hold eugenically influenced ideas on population control:
Who is Holdren’s intellectual mentor, Harrison Brown? He was a “distinguished member” of the International Eugenics Society whom Holdren later worked with on a book about – you guessed it – world population and fertility.
The only way it makes any sense for a “eugenically inferior” African American to find themselves in league with eugenics embracing progressives is if the goal is separation of the races. Kinda along the lines of what Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam demand.
It’s extremely hard to believe President Barack Obama supports the separation of the races. But what about some of the people around him?
Making sense of Obama’s motives almost doesn’t matter because he is not the point. The progressive movement is the point. Just reflect upon the history of the progressive movement, while today’s Progressive believers demand control of health care, finance, and carbon itself.
UPDATE:
While we are mentioning Farrakhan, check out this video we found of Louis slamming Christians for how they celebrate Christmas. If you can get all the way through the clip, you will enjoy the part at the end where the good Minister blames the “Caucasians” for corrupting the idea of Jesus in the church.
It’s all Whitey’s fault!

OMG…this video is a pearl.
Thank you.
Excellent. Love the video!
I’d like to first address the video, and not say “we don’t care” as an ignorant white Christian. In the times of Jeremiah, both before and after, trees WERE worshipped as sacred (sound familiar progressives?) And this was of course denounced.
Now the tradition of the Christmas Tree dates back to the 8th century with St. Boniface – and much of it is documented (though not in the Bible of course as the Bible ends with the death of the last apostle John.) It was actually in response to the worship of an oak tree, and when asked how to celebrate Christmas, St. Boniface points to an evergreen as a symbol of peace, eternity (evergreen) and God (as it points up to Heaven). It is NOT a pagan symbol, although it can be hijacked just as Farrakhan hijack’s the Sacred Scripture for his own evil purposes.
Yes, the progressive ideas are very dangerous to humanity. I just heard in a debate on healthcare that they want to put “more emphasis on prevention” instead of providing a patient who needs attention due to, for example, diabetes, adequate care. Public healthcare will judge who is worthy of care. Just as Mengel did, with Hitler’s support.
We live in a scary time – but we need to keep up the fight!
