Michelle Malkin is reporting that the government has decided to keep investing in more stimulus road signs. Thank god, because if the ones on the road to Quincy were any indication (pictured below) the government must step in and bail out the dilapidated signs.

From Malkin’s post:

If we insist on paying money for signs bragging about where money is being wasted, how about a few million to put up some “Buffoon at Work” signs outside some Senate offices? If there’s a more necessary make-work program, I have yet to see it.

These signs are the perfect metaphor for this Progressive government. They are all for show, but in the end, whatever they are propping up is going to collapse just as sure as the stupid road signs they are wasting our money on.

It would appear that not only the signs are a massive waste of money, They also apear to be a massive safety hazard in a windstorm. The posts are of substandard size and quality (knotty wood)for the size and height of the signs, and the bracing is inadequate. I have seen many stories about motorists being killed by flying highway signs in the news.

These markers deserve a proper fisking!

The highway orange & green camouflage is an inspired, quasi-official touch. Ignore this at your peril. The resemblance to speed limit advisories (America at work: Slow Down!) is not the only irony begging for exploitation here. You’ll note that the badly designed contraption is leaning left. Then there is the New! Improved! Red, White, Blue and…. Green recovery, encircled by the ubiquitous, iconic O. The only thing missing is a cautionary Yield in yellow.

It’s nice that the locals don’t have to worry about making their own stimulus signs, isn’t it? Your federal government is all about controlling the message.
