What Are They Drinking? $2.7 Billion In Taxpayer Aid To British Booze Company

[via John Stossel's Take]

Billions of US tax payer dollars will be spent on a British liqueur company to move jobs from Puerto Rico to the Virgin Islands.

In total, $2.7 billion in tax credits and other benefits will go to British company Diageo PLC, the world’s largest liquor producer, so that they can start up operations on the Virgin Islands.

It gets dumber:

The U.S. Virgin Island officials who arranged the deal with the rum-producers say that this new distillery will create 40-70 new jobs.

40-70 new jobs is fewer than the number of jobs which will be lost in Puerto Rico!

Let’s let them run health care.
