What do you do when you find your city’s budget completely underwater? Sell the water!
Or, in this case, lease it.
CHICAGO (CBS) ― If the parking meter deal put a bad taste in your mouth, try swallowing this:
Chicago is considering leasing its water system to help fix the budget.
Is this what it looks like just before a Democratic Socialist city goes the way of Detroit?

Y’know, it is ironic that with all this talk about the government being the only way to fix the economy, our healthcare system, and the environment, we have a government entity turning over the operation of basic government functions like parking meters and water systems to private enterprise because they, uh, well, can’t manage those basic services.
Give credit to the City of Chicago for recognizing that the private sector is way more efficient at getting stuff done.
“…we have a government entity turning over the operation of basic government functions like parking meters and water systems to private enterprise because they, uh, well, can’t manage those basic services.”
No kidding.
As long as we have politicians who cannot see past the next election cycle, this is what we are facing. All the want is to say that they solved the budget crisis for now regardless of how it will devastate the city later on.
I heard that Iran offered to lease our military for 3 trillion a year. We could give everyone great healthcare right up to the point of the big flashing explosion.
