Chicago Breaking News is reporting on a home invasion in suburban Waconda that went very badly for the invaders. The homeowners had a gun, and they used it.

A press release from police said the shooting happened at about 5:47 p.m. Saturday, with the masked men forcing their way into a house in the Country Ridge subdivision, then engaging in “repeated demands and physical altercations.” The pair refused to leave, according to police and one of the homeowners shot them. We don’t know what kind of gun was used, or what the regulations are in suburban Wauconda, but if Chicago’s Mayor Daley had his way, homeowners like this would face charges of attempted murder, or at least a lesser charge of felony gun possession. ‘Sure they broke into your home, and you thought you were going to die, but that doesn’t give you the right to break the law.’

Hopefully Wauconda is no Chicago.
