Eye (Don’t) Witness News – The Lech Walesa Story

Last week, Nobel Laureate, Presidential Medal of Freedom winner, and former president of Poland, Lech Walesa, traveled to Chicago to endorse a political candidate for governor of Illinois.
Who he endorsed doesn’t matter. The fact that he is here endorsing anyone at all should be considered newsworthy.
Unfortunately for Chicago residents, and the Polish community specifically, if you get your news from the city’s local television stations, you might not have even known that he was in town, let alone that he attended a Tea Party, and endorsed Adam Andrzejewski for governor.
Could this media blackout have anything to do with a political bias in the news room?

I wish I could say this boggles my mind, but sadly, it doesn’t even shock me anymore. I guess I’m just saddened in general…no matter how loudly we speak and how clearly we get our message across, they STILL won’t accept it. So sad.

Solid reporting, Andrew. Just wish you had used another verb to describe what Walesa did to the evil empire especially when the next image includes the Pope.
This is why Illinois is run by Democrats. The media just ignors conservatives. They pick their candidate and thats how they report. They say the race for Governor is being led by “The big three” as they call Dillard, MCKenna, and Jim Ryan. None of them are over 20% in the polls yet the race is over in their reporting! When Adam wins today it will be a “Take over” by the right of the once moderate GOP in Illinois. That will be how they will slant the race to help the Tax raising Democrats!
Martin, you make a point that is extremely worthy of consideration. That is why it would have been nice if ABC and others had broadcast what they documented about Walesa’s visit. Then people could have thought about the idea of it, and decided for themselves the appropriateness of it all.
As it is, they didn’t even give people the opportunity think about it. They decided what was news, and apparently Walesa doesn’t rank as news.

Media stunt? Report the news-it’s not up to liberal journalists to decide what that the news is…LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE!
Obama went on a campaign trip to Europe, this is just the flip side of the same coin. Lech Walesa has been a hero to the West, Left and Right, for decades. Effectively expunging him from news coverage shows the venality and partisanship of the Obama-enthralled Chicago media outlets. They’re a joke.
Thanks for posting about this, it’s both interesting and important to document what’s going on these days.

Well, since it wasn’t covered, it wasn’t exactly a media stunt, was it?
Maybe the story itself would have been too powerful. During the Revolutionary War, Polish nobleman Gen. Casmir Pulaski wrote a letter to George Washington to say:
“I came here, where freedom is being defended, to serve it, and to live or die for it.” Gen. Washington brought the young nobleman on board the fight
Pulaski was a skilled horseman, and a fighter for his own country’s freedom. He became know as the father of the U.S. military’s cavalry. He led a cavalry assault in Ga and died at sea days later. Oct 11th is Pulaski Day, but is largely forgotten except in Polish-American circles.
Far from a media stunt, I think Walesa is simply holding up an honorable, but little known, Polish tradition. And this time, it’s a speech instead of a cavalry advance. : )

Now now, we can’t have anything possibly detrimental to the Chicago media’s Most Holy Lord and Christ; Obama The Lightgiver.
I keep waiting for the South Park episode where Satan gets bored and creates the “Obamabot.” Then he gets these media worshipers to slaughter their own families – all in the Glorious Name of Obama.
What makes this more remarkable is that Chicago has more residents of Polish descent than any other city on the planet, save Warsaw. Walesa visiting Chicago is on par with an Irish president visiting Boston, or a Mexican president visiting LA.
In fairness to the media, there are about a dozen people running for governor in Illinois, and Andrew is well back in the pack. Plus there are hot races in several other primaries as well. Given the limitations of the 30-minute newscast, I can see why a lightly-attended event by a minor candidate might not get a lot of coverage.
Walesa’a appearance was no publicity stunt as one of your supposedly “conservative” writers suggests. This is an internationally renowned champion of democracy, a man whose personal courage led a nation out of chains. To suggest that it is somehow appropriate to ignore the visit and heartfelt opinion of such a man is ludicrous.Every freedom loving individual, anywhere in the world, should applaud the man and listen to his message. Walasa knows more about fighting for freedom than most people will ever even comprehend.
Let’s hope that the media blackout in Chi-town completely backfires.

It may well be (though it’s more obviously a simple electioneering stunt to garner Polish-American votes) but it’s no less newsworthy for that.
Solidarity in Poland, the Goddess of Liberty in Tianenman Square, the Green Revolution in Iran and on and on it goes. Liberty lives in every heart and cannot be extinguished unless they kill us all. Thanks, Lech.

How can a media stunt not be covered by the media? Remember 2004 when a European publication set up a message board for Europeans to send messages to Ohio, the state the MSM considered most critical to becoming POTUS? That media stunt was reported, ad nauseum, until it likely backfired (and, no, it probably wouldn’t happen in this case because Walesa’s opinion isn’t the same as leftie European du jure).
This is also Chicago, where Obama ran for Senate and the local media took out his primary and general election opponenets, the latter by spending big lawyer dollars to sue. At the same time, Obama was going to a ‘hate whitey’ church and these same media outlets couldn’t spend $5 on cab fare to check it out. Starve the beast – cancel your subscriptions.

I am nauseated after viewing this video. I have been torn for a month between Adam and Dan Proft, (both I felt political outsiders that would shake up Springfield), I voted for Proft at 6:00AM, but if I had seen this prior to voting it would have tipped the scale for me. My sincere apology to Adam.

Did Founding Bloggers have to say that Walensa “teabagged the evil empire”? Are you not aware that “teabagging” is NOT OUR TERM, that it is a homosexual slander concocted by the rotten souls of the left? Using it here makes it harder to expose and expunge it elsewhere.
Mr. Walesa is by no means on the right of the political spectrum. Although he was endorsing what I believe to be a Polish son; his words do carry legitimacy to all points on the political spectrum. I have a feeling, the local news could not devise a spin and so chose to ignore it.
Now that’s reporting!
Prior to the last presidential election and now what’s going on in Climategate, I thought the media was just biased toward liberal politics. I’ve come to realize they are much, much worse; they propagandize through disinformation, silence, distraction of anything they disagree with. And are like cheerleaders – rah-rah booster club-like promotion – for “their side”.
That’s okay. They’re a dying breed,the mainstream media. Only the truly gullible would think they’re credible.

Precisely the reason Barack Obama should not be President, he is unconstitutional, since he is Kenyan born, and not an American(he is Indonesian.) He also accepted thousands in donations from foreign sources. Didn’t the Saudi’s pay for his so called schooling also. Unbelievable, you would make the above statement. How weak is an individual or group that withholds information or closes debate? This media and the Progressive wing of the Democrat party believe they are strong, but they are rendering themselves as irrelevant and small-minded. The growing number of Independents are no dummies. They see Progressive politicians and their media tools as useless and robotic.
If you want to disagree, fine disagree, but don’t censor what he said. The MSM are frauds thy only cover what they want and slant what they do cover. That’s why I get my news from every possible source. The main stream media are not worth the paper they wiped with.

There needs to be an investigation why a foreign citizen is openly campaigning in an U.S. election. At a minimum, Andrzejewski’s campaign should be ordered to immediately suspend campaigning until this matter is resolved, and if he is found to have broken the law, charges should be filed. The Chicago stations should be praised for refusing to aid an abet lawbreaking by the Andrzejewski campaign. In any event, who is Lech Walesa anyway that anyone should care about what he thinks about anything? He should go back to Poland instead of meddling into our elections.
Not only is the MSM ingnoring the fact that Adam Andrzejewski is a viable candidate, the Republican establishment is doing the same. I know several people who have received polling calls about the Republican Gov. race and they didn’t even list AA’s name, just “other”. The thing is, Walesa is supporting AA because he has the guts and backbone to stand up to what is going on in IL. It’s not just the Dems. it’s the Rep. establishment as well! So you just can’t rely on the MSM to give you good info. You have to search it out. So THANK YOU for this Founding Bloggers, llc.!
I find it considerably interesting that this was ignored so heavy-handedly by the media, particularly in Chicago.
Commenter jordan discussed Casimir Pulaski and the fact that there is a Pulaski Day. Chicago has such a large Polish community, that there is a parade and schools are closed, even in suburbs, for Pulaski Day. This didn’t happen anywhere else I ever went to school, including multiple towns in Wisconsin, and in Alexandria, VA.
For a city whose Polish community is so abundant as to close schools for Pulaski Day, it’s unfathomable to me that a visit by a Polish hero like Walesa goes almost entirely undocumented.
Much like a man may be considered a liar by his girlfriend for withholding information, this is nothing short of propaganda by exclusion of information.

Martin Kunert, as the USA has a president that might well be non american where is the conflict, especially as this person was the figurehead of the overthrow of communism in Poland and a leader of a trade union,this is news and should have been reported but as the media is more censored than either Hitler or Stalin managed do not be suprised, they also fail to report the corruption at the UN, same reason, this is why people dont buy papers.
