BREAKING VIDEO: Reid Supporters Throwing Eggs And Assaulting Andrew Breitbart

March 29, 2010

Here is a smidge of our video from Saturday’s Tea Party Express coverage in Searchlight, Nevada.

The AP calls this a hospitality tent. We call it destruction of property and assault. Either way, this is Harry Reid’s Democrat Party. So tolerant. So enlightened. So Progressive.

    Hospitality, Democrat Style…

The Associated Press calls this a “hospitality tent” for Tea Party attendees set up by supporters of Senate Majority leader Harry Reid. Tell me, does this look like hospitality to you? Looks more like a “hostility tent” to me. Unless “get him out …

It’s pretty clear that incivility isn’t the hallmark of one pole of the political spectrum, and that’s deplorable. Democracy is pretty much guaranteed to involve conflict–even intractable conflict at times–but it doesn’t need to involve hatred, violence, or abuse.

That said, if this is the most egregious footage of Democrat extremism you can manage, you kind of undermine your own claims. For one thing, throwing eggs at a slow-moving tour bus is classifiable as “destruction of property”? What kind of eggs were they? Molotov eggs? Come on: while I certainly don’t think it’s kind or civil to throw eggs at people or vehicles, and though I wouldn’t do it myself, it does seem that the act is more akin to a statement of disapproval than to “destruction” of anything.

For another thing, the guy in the video (is that Breitbart?), although well within his rights as a citizen protected by the First Amendment, seems to be deliberately provoking hostility, despite his repeated claims to the contrary. As he repeats “they threw eggs, they’re throwing eggs, they threw eggs, they threw eggs, oh that’s nice–they threw eggs” over and over in his shrill whiney voice (I’m sorry, he’s probably a very nice guy, but his voice really was shrill and whiney in this clip), I found my own annoyance increasing, and I’m a couple thousand miles away! But I didn’t assault Breitbart, and neither did the counter-demonstrators in the video. Again, I think the guy who made the remark about “going to jail” was out of line, but as a threat, that was about as indirect as you can get! As a matter of fact, if you take his words at face value, he was asking people to prevent him from some kind of violence against Brietbart. Literal or figurative, though, it’s a severe stretch to call his quasi-macho, hot-headed outburst “assault.”

I think this piece demonstrates nicely that incivility is widespread (not a newsflash), but it also shows that at least this blogger applies an absurdly blunt instrument to his judgments against Democrats. My guess is that he’s more precise when it comes to judgments against Republicans.

Just some of Harry (the Body) Reid’s union thugs having some fun.

Harry is toast. He’ll soon resign to spend more time with his family. Then, Pelosi will lose her Speaker position in Novemeber. Of the Three Stooges, only Obama will be left. And he’ll be inconsequential. A laughingstock. A sad parody of the Man Who Would Be King.

This crowd will be remembered as the worst political disaster in US history. Quite an accomplishment in less than 2 years.

The US Founding Fathers saw this coming. They provided the American people with the tools to protect themselves. And the disaster that is Obama is about to end.

    >>For one thing, throwing eggs at a slow-moving tour bus is classifiable as “destruction of property”? What kind of eggs were they?

Throw an egg at a cop car sometime and see what it gets you…

  19. Warren on March 30, 2010 at 12:03 am

Egg whites will eat the paint off automotive finishes. If you don’t believe me bust an egg on the hood of your car and leave it there overnight.

  20. MDK on March 30, 2010 at 12:11 am

Throwing eggs IS destruction of property. Eggs thrown against a bus result in damage to the finish of the bus, far more so than it does to the finish on a car. Yes, eggs thrown at a car can and will damage a car’s paint and/or clearcoat.

Generally, the bus’s finish is not paint, but often is part of the metal, and it may permanently discolor the finish.

Of course, the busses are rented. All they did was harm the rental company. Juveniles all – liberalism is just failure to become responsible adults.

When all you have to support your argument is faith (rather than a reasoned position that can be tied to reality & man’s nature), the only way to gain the [appearance of] adherence of the non-believers is through force. This is where the left is on government medicine, global warming, welfare at large… The right is not immune from leaning on faith in the ideas they support: capitalism is base on Christian ideas (oh really?), man’s rights come from God (you don’t say?)… better be grounded in reality if we all want to get along – and stop looting each other in the name of altruism.

all of the hate on both sides needs to stop. and one side saying that they are justified because the other side did it needs to stop also.

But most of all conservatives and liberals need to band together to get rid of the extremist on BOTH sides, it does not help anyone.

Especially the tea party. it has become a breeding ground for REALLY REALLY nutty bigoted people that have no place in a political discourse.

More then anyplace else right now the true fringe violent hateful people seem to think the tea party is a place they can call home and find legitimacy through.

There is a reason i am offering a $10,000 reward for anyone who can provide proof the tea party is not infested with racist

“Either way, this is Harry Reid’s Democrat Party. So tolerant. So enlightened. So Progressive.”

Er, it’s legally been the “Democratic Party” since Jefferson in 1790 (Democratic-Republican Party) or, since Jackson in 1825 — Democratic Party as it’s been ever since.

    Do try to keep up.

Now, back to your enthralling discussion of eggs.

  32. Fred Beloit on March 30, 2010 at 10:11 am

Kevin Maness above said Brietbart was at fault for making a person threaten him because Brietbart was describing what the crowd of muggs were doing in a schrill and whiney voice.

“As he repeats “they threw eggs, they’re throwing eggs, they threw eggs, they threw eggs, oh that’s nice–they threw eggs” over and over in his shrill whiney voice (I’m sorry, he’s probably a very nice guy, but his voice really was shrill and whiney in this clip), I found my own annoyance increasing, and I’m a couple thousand miles away!”

But I am being provoked by Kevin’s schrill and whiney prose as I sit here a thousand miles away from someone who is verbosely writing bad things about Brietbart, an American media hero, and this good blog. Guess he is trying to provoke us to violence. I’m very annoyed at Kevin, who just may be a very nice guy.

I was there and not for the teaparty. My hat’s off to Mr. Breitbart for a well done set up. He just happened to be in the middle of the Reid people as the TeaParty buses rolled up on them. Just happened to be there miked up with a film crew rolling. When the eggs were thrown he didn’t even turn to look he just kept narrating his film.

Hat’s off to you Mr. Breitbart well done.
