Claudia Rosett offers this wise observation regarding the speed with which the Obama administration has summoned General McChrystal to Washington following his recent critical comments in Rolling Stone Magazine:
If only Obama had been as eager to clear time on his calendar for McChrystal back in 2009. That’s when really getting to know the general — the man entrusted with winning the war in Afghanistan — should have been one of the top priorities of the new president.
It hurts because it is true.

This man stands alone in his criticism. There is no party line in the military and the commander in chief, even if you don’t agreed, is commander in chief. You will not get anyone in the military to back the general. I know because I have been there.
Uh. why did the general ban FOX News from his headquarters?

I have the same question that james has, “why did the general ban Fox News from his headquarters?”
Of course the truth really hurts! And a person’s tendency when hurt is to also inflict pain on the one who has hurt him/her. Obama has somehow made a mistake in replacing Gen. McKiernan with Gen. McChrystal in the past. I hope this time, he has made a better judgment on Gen. Petraeus and not realize later that he has made a mistake. If this happens, then again the truth will hurt him.
