Gotta love that black woman. I’d be willing to bet that she only has a high school diploma but she certainly has a lot more common sense than those two OBVIOUSLY liberal nit-wits…

It’s amazing that some people believe that controlling law abiding citizens (the only people who follow the law) by passing a law is the answer to controlling crime (committed by individuals who don’t follow the law). And it’s curious that people believe that law abiding citizens should be penalized with restrictions on weapons for self defense because criminals and irresponsible citizens engage in illegal, immoral and irresponsible behavior with those same weapons. Everyone, even criminals, have a natural right of self defense, and until their rights are taken away by a court of law because of misdeeds. We need to butt out and let people make their own decisions about whether and how they might choose to defend themselves, or simply remain a victim who dials 911. More and more we assume that our activities need to be set forth in law before we engage in them. A form of asking permission from our fellow citizens (who serve as government). Just the opposite is true – everything is legal in America until we allow our fellow citizens in government to make it illegal.

Consider the ridiculous ordinance Daley is now proposing – it will be against the law to have a handgun with you on your front porch. That’s an item of private property in your possession on your private property, and being used (or going unused) in a legal manner. This all focuses on laws that are preventive in nature, and preventive laws prevent nothing at all. It’s the armed citizen that prevents crime simply because they have an immediate form of justice for those with criminal intent. Remember, the burglar fears most that someone is at home simply because that someone might have a firearm to defend themselves and their property. The burglar knows that guns aren’t dangerous. They know that the threat doesn’t come from the gun, it comes from the individual they are trying to victimize.
